Most were for daily wear while many were utilitarian, such as with the military where they were used for combat & training purposes i.e. helmets. Still others were exclusively worn for dress or ceremonial occasions. Headgear varied in material, color & decoration depending on their use (climate) and organization. 1 PRUSSIAN PIONEER OFFICER QUALITY PICKELHAUBE, 2nd Company/25th Pioneer Battalion; circa 1909-1914 for 1 yr Volunteer. Black leather helmet body showing no actual use; all original bright SILVER furniture w/Gilt chinsales for Pioneer Battalions; minty  kokardes, chinscales w/leather chinstrap; EXTRA Tall Spike! Ribbed Silk two piece officers liner on wide leather sweatband; Unit marked label in crown(see pics); size 57 marked; untouched screws & nuts throughout with NO extra holes. Untampered with Front plate embedded into helmet body; nearly impossible to upgrade this beauty! -$2650.
