Price: Sold

Description: Nice quality, private purchase Officer’s saber (Holler model #61) featuring a slightly curved, nickel/silver plated, drop forged, steel construction blade with narrow, shallow, fullers running three quarters of the way up both sides of the blade. Maker marked to Holler. The saber has die cast, alloy langets, cross guard, ferrule, flat knuckle bow, back-strap and a “dove” pommel with a gilt finish. The obverse rounded tip, shield shaped langet has an engraved Wehrmacht pattern eagle with down-swept wings, clutching a canted swastika in its talons. The knuckle bow, ferrule and back-strap all feature engraved oak-leaf and acorn patterns. The saber has a contoured, molded, black, bakelite grip with a central bulge, and repeating, recessed, horizontal grooves with dual, inset, twisted wire wrap flanked at both the top and bottom edges with single strand wire. The saber comes with its original, black painted, tooled, sheet metal construction scabbard. There is a small chip out of the black grip near the pommel, otherwise a Nice clean example with most of its original gilt remaining!
