Description: High quality, private purchase, M38 pattern, field-gray wool/rayon blend construction cap features fold down side and back panels with scalloped slopes to the forward side panels. The crown edge and the forward scalloped side panels are both piped in bright, interwoven, silver/aluminum braiding. The cap has a metal alloy, ventilation grommet to each side positioned just below the crown edge. The front center of the cap has a bevo, flat-wire correctly machine-sewn national eagle that has never been tampered with. Directly below it is a bullion hand-embroidered officer’s cockade that remains as originally applied.. The cockade is flanked by its original pink rayon waffenfarbe soutache, factory applied and untampered with as well. To the left panel of the cap is a hand-sewn Unit designation in the form of a 40mm long oakleaf. Its presence is in keeping with the rest of the cap, no doubt! The interior of the cap is fully lined in a smooth gray/green rayon material showing considerable wear. Cap is not marked but is easily a size 57+. Now the shortcomings; this cap looks to have been worn through 5 years of the 2nd World War. It has considerable field wear overall inside and out, but as previously stated ALL its components ARE 100% original to this cap. If you can get by the wear, this cap really talks-to-you and is unquestionably the Real deal!
