Waffen-SS Tropical Tunic, 1st Pattern

Waffen-SS Tropical Tunic, 1st Pattern

Price: Sold

Description: This early tropical Waffen-SS light-weight, subtly ribbed, tan cotton twill construction, Sahariana-style field blouse is the first pattern. The tunic features a vertical, four button front closure with small fold back lapels and a lay-down collar. This 1st pattern has four, pleated-patch pockets, two at the waist and two on the chest, the latter with uniquely scalloped button-down flaps that are a part of an overlapping, shoulder yoke. The shoulder yoke covers both shoulders and runs down over the breast and back panels with scalloped tips to the bottom edges. (The 2nd later pattern of this tropical tunic does NOT have pleated patch pockets, being later after 1942 and is typically RBN#)

The upper left sleeve has a factory applied second-pattern machine woven, tropical SS sleeve eagle. The tunics unique shoulder board retaining tunnel loops are intact at each shoulder. The reverse of the lay down collar has the typical, zig-zag reinforcement stitching. The interior of the tunic has a green cotton reinforcing throughout with double field dressing pockets each having a single button closure. Size markings present on chest fly area. All original tropical chest buttons have their “S” rings for removal.
