Description: This early war classic Officers Waffen-SS M43 cap is made of the typically seen smooth whipcord-weave feld-grau wool The cap features fold down side and back panels with a downward scalloped front and forward sides secured by a single large composition button retained by its original stitching. The caps crown circumference has the expected silver-twist wire factory applied during its original construction that signifies officer rank. The wiIre crown piping terminates at its rear in the expected cross-over & tucked appearance. The cap has matching light-beige seam-basting material to its turn-down loops on each side on the cap flap. The interior of the cap is fully lined with a light weight shiney-gray rayon fabric with the only marking being the size stamp “57”.The cloth covered visor has an internal stiffener with a subtly raised lip to the bottom of the forward edge and one row of reinforcement stitching to the bottom of the forward edge. The insignia consists of a machine-woven SS eagle & skull separately, period- applied to the upper front of the cap. Cap shows the expected period use and wear, especially to the interior lining(as would be expected). Overall very nice condition and another no-doubt “One Looker” piece! A rare actually worne cap in this configuration.
