WW2 USAAF Flight Grouping, 319th Squadron “Asterperious”

Description: Grouping from the family of Sgt. William M. Clapie s/n 13172113, B-24 Gunner from McKeesport, PA. Grouping consists of original AAF documentation in personal, unit painted binder, B-10 Flight Jacket Set w/ matched flight trousers & suspenders; Jacket has all original theater-made untouched insignia; Uniform & shirt with original insignia & silk 5th AAF scarf. Jacket with all original cuffs and waistband. Fur collar is 99% showing little to no wear. Lining is 99% showing little to no wear. No holes rips or tears to the jacket itself. Flight pants & Suspender appear as Never Worn!
Background: January 28, 1942 constituted as the 319th Bombardment Squadron (Heavy). On April 15, 1942 activated in the U.S. Army Air Force (USAAF) as part of the 90th Bombardment Group (90th BG) at Key Field in Mississippi. Nicknamed “Asterperious”. During World War II, assigned to the 5th Air Force (5th AF) in the South West Pacific Area (SWPA).
