BUY / RESERVE THIS ITEMDescription: An early first period (1933-35) SA Dagger by “Aug.Merten of Solingen”; the obverse blade ricasso bearing the etching of their unique oakleaves-M logo reflecting this maker. Blade remains in superb condition showing its high polish with very slight runner marks and a few pin-prick spots (see pics). Motto is well defined with all its matt-gray etched coloring. Excellent Nickel-silver crossguards with the lower one gau marked ‘Ho’ (to the far right of the crossguard) for Hochland’. Sharply defined dark brown wood grip fits perfectly to both top and bottom fittings; No cracks or chipping to the grip without bruising. Correct nickel national eagle & enameled SA button are excellent and nicely fitted to grip. Early brown anodized steel scabbard shows nearly all its original dark thinning finish; Nickel silver scabbard fittings retain all four of their unmolested retaining screws with a single shallow dent to mid-reverse. Blades mates tightly with scabbard the way it should..
