BACKGROUND: The Kriegsmarine adopted wear of the new national eagle on the front of the headgear and the right breast of the uniform in March 1934. The Kriegsmarine originally used white uniforms and headgear as their tropical dress. The Kriegsmarine developed two separate brown tropical uniforms, with one being introduced before the outbreak of the war and the second one during the war.
