Description: Imperial German Regimental Pipe -A One-of-a-kind beauty from the 17th Hussar Rgt, 2nd Es. and is dated 1898-1901. There are multiple Hussar Insignia along its length including 2 “Totenkopfs”, “17-Hs” & “2nd-Es” lettering, Hussar “Sabretache”, “Horse Heads”, etc. There are a few different types of wood including at the top, a large piece of horn or antler from which the smoking hose emanates. Centered is a large carved Ivory Spiral. There are central tied red/white/black tassels. The 6 inch porcelain bowl is beautifully hand painted and extremely colorful. Atop the bowl, and serving as its lid is a Hussar Busby of the 17th w/ large Totenkopf & red Sabretache. It measures 41” long, with the hose/mouthpiece measuring another 17”. The wooden piece at the bottom screws onto the main pipe. It also has a hole for the porcelain bowl. This measures 8 ½”. A unique and amazing item from an elite Regiment!

Background: The 17th were a Prussian cavalry regiment, known from their very early days as the Black Brunswickers with a history that included service with the British in the Peninsular War and at Waterloo. Their badge was a skull (Totenkopf) giving them the nickname Death’s Head Hussars.
