Description: This badge is a very nice early tombak piece, it’s nicely maker marked with the cloverleaf logo ‘BSW’  for the company Gebrüder Schneider, Wien. Classic BSW diminutive perfectly domed ‘nipple’ rivets and brass hardware for strength. The badge shows great finish and stunning details that rival all other pieces; In its original case of issuance of blue grained leatherette over wood. Piano-style hinge & classic BSW Shepard’s-Hook clasp; case has Luftwaffen~Flugzeugführer~Abzeichen” embossed in gold on its lid.   This badge is really an outstanding example of an early badge. There were 9 known makers of these badges.                                                           

Background: WH (Luftwaffe), Flugzeugführerabzeichen (Pilot’s Badge). The Pilot’s badge was instituted in August 1935 by ‘Reichsmarchall Hermann Göring’ with other flight badges soon to follow.
