Luftwaffe Officers Sword by SMF

Description: Nice roughly 29″ long, nickel/silver plated, drop forged steel, dual edged, blade, with a central fuller running. Well marked with deeply acid etched manufacturers logo, consisting of the likeness of a seated king holding an upright sword with script, “SMF Solingen”, indicating manufacture by Solingen Metallwaren-Fabrik Stocker & Co. Solingen. Blade is also Luftwaffe proof stamped near the maker’s logo. The original blue leather washer is in situ. The sword has an aluminum alloy cross guard and pommel. The nicely detailed cross guard features downwardly curved, stylized wings to each side with a central, raised circular panel with a canted, brass, sunwheel swastika to both the obverse and reverse. The blue Moroccan wrapped, carved wooden grip has its original dual strand, twisted brass wire wrap still intact. The nickel/silver plated alloy pommel also features a canted, brass, sunwheel swastika to both the obverse and reverse with the edge of the pommel displaying an ornate, repeating, hand etched oak-leaf pattern. The sword comes complete with its original alloy construction scabbard with a grained blue Moroccan leather covering, alloy fittings and complete matching leather hanger. About as Mint as they come.
