Deluxe Senior Forestry Cutlass by Eickhorn

Description: The blade is the deluxe and most desirable shorter 10 inch length. It has beautiful forestry scenes the obverse features the hunter kneeling while aiming his rifle at a running stag and doe. All of the background shading is present. The reverse example pictures a hunter running with rifle in hand while dogs chase down a wild boar. The shading is all 100 percent on this portion too. The spine is etched with overlapping oak leaves and also has the name of the prolific supplier that sold a lot of Eickhorn edged weapons “W. Michovius Cottbus”. The blade is stamped with the 1935 through 41 trademark on the reverse. The original green felt buffer is in place.
The D-guard is decorated with raised overlapping oak leaves which extend through the crossguard area and both quillon ends finish up in a deer’s hoof having hand enhancing. The ferrule also has overlapping oak leaves. The clamshell reflects a single Pheasant looking to the viewer’s right
The grip plates are both ivory and are in excellent condition. Each plate is adorned with their three acorns. The highly detailed acorns are the style with leaves at the top and all have nicely checkered caps.
The scabbard shell is fine black leather. This leather remains in excellent condition showing with tight stitching seam down reverse. The leather has the traditional twin decorative lines that run the length of the edges on both sides. The scabbard mounts are gilded brass. They both have scalloped edges and the upper is equipped with a fine lug in the shape of an acorn. The lower has the panel with the deluxe treatment featuring a baying large stag standing in a forest glen. The mount finished up with a very fine decorative ball. These mounts are retained by staples on the reverse and they have numbers beneath. Attached to the upper scabbard fitting is the original custom frog having a safety chain.
