Description: This RAD Officer has superb silvering from head to toe. From the pommel eagle-head to the tip of the scabbard, all the darkened silver patina matches, reflecting never being touched in any way. The reverse of the crossguard has the owners initials “F.H.” The blade is in full mint condition, being the polished finish variety. The RAD motto is crisp with all of its frosting in the lettering. The tip, of course, is done in the bolo style. The reverse ricasso is etched with the logo of a typical Eickhorn squirrel. This is one of the finest RAD Leaders on the market and nearly impossible to upgrade.

Background: RAD Officers and men initially wore the same edged weapon, a large Hewer with stag gripped plates. In 1938, RAD Officers wore a scaled-down hewer. It has silvered fittings with an eaglehead pommel top. The crossguard features a shovel over wheat shafts, with a superimposed swastika. The weapon is fitted with white celluloid grip plates. The silvered scabbard has curled design decoration at the upper and wheat stalks at the lower. The center area features a pebbled panel. The matte-finished, Bowie-shape blade is etched with the RAD motto, Arbeit Adelt.
