Description: This Red Cross Hewer is extremely fine with great with all matching matt-silver plated fittings. The grip plates, checkered obverse and smooth reverse are mint with un-molested retaining screws.
The blade remains in pristine condition with a crisp sawback;blade is completely bright with all of its original cross graining. The polished ricasso is “GES. GESCHUTZT.” marked with a leather buffer in-situ. The scabbard is straight throughout. Black lacquered front shows 99% retention and the reverse about 92%. The throat & drag are each retained by two dome head side screws that remain unmolested; original black leather frog remains attached to the scabbard, is maker marked and dated 1940.
