BUY / RESERVE THIS ITEMThe magnificent shinogi-zukuri blade measures 2 Shaku, 4 Sun, 2 Bu (73cm or 28 ¾ “). Blade has a mixture of itame and masame hada with a gunome style hamon. The mumei nakago is ubu with two mekugi-ana. It has a Kanteisho Origami by the NTHK attributing it to “Den Noshu Kanenori” circa the Eiroku era(1558). Kanenori worked in Mino during the late Koto period, and the blade has characteristics from that school of sword making. The blade is in full polish.
The tachi style mounts date from the mid 19th Century. The fittings and tsuba have been made by the same artist and feature a bori (carved) design of vines and leaves with a silver finish. The saya is lacquered in red and features white cherry blossoms and gold branches. There are some touch ups to the lacquer in one area. The white ito wrapping is over white and gold brocade silk, with gold dragon menuki. The traditional tachi style wrap is very well done, but probably dates from the last 60 years or so. It has a nice tachi sageo beautifully tied to complete the mount. Overall a truly spectacular tachi that makes an impressive display.
