BUY / RESERVE THIS ITEMDescription: This wartime officer’s sword measures 38½” overall and bears a 27¼ ” shinogi-zukuri blade showing a striking mirror polish, beautiful gunome hamon; The tang is dated August 1940 (year 15 of the showa era; “Hachigatsu Jugo-nen”) tang signed ”Kane Michi Saku; arsenal (turtle) stamp -Seki Cutlery Manuf. Assoc, blade is razor sharp and near mint. The officer’s mounts are of exceptional quality and condition, comprising a silver-plated habaki and gilt brass tsuba, fuchi, menuki and kabuto-gane with ocher-brown matte finish on the fuchi and kabuto-gane. The wood grip is bound in traditional white shagreen and brown cloth tape. Superb, unfaded company-grade officers tassel in-situ. The scabbard is near mint, featuring a medium brown-painted steel body and ocher-brown-painted gilt brass mounts matching the hilt and showing only the barest light finish wear at the exposed edges of the mounts.
