Description: Kriegsmarine M31 Matrosenmütze with Panzerschiff “Deutschland” cap tally. Cap body is of high quality smooth dark blue wool with a black cotton lining having hand embroidered red lettered unit and ID numbers. Full tan leather sweatband; capband tally is full length, held to the sides with thread loops and properly folded at the rear. Its woven metallic lettering is age darkened; multi-piece national color rosette is correctly attached to the front as a button and the gilt finished Kriegsmarine cap eagle is correctly attached to the cap’s peak with a knurled mounting pin. The ‘Deutschland’ saw heavy service with the German Navy and was renamed the Lützow after extensive repairs having been torpedoed by the British.
