BUY / RESERVE THIS ITEMDescription: Rare Tropical Heer EM M40 Cap manufactured by the firm of Kurtz & Storkman-Berlin; the cap’s shell is constructed of thick early quality olive colored cotton twill, each side has a pair of ventilation grommets with intact olive colored coating, the tropical pattern machine-woven insignias are factory sewn, the national emblem is applied in the ‘zip & flip’ style (being straight machine stitched across the top of the eagle’s wing then being flipped over and with the lower portions being finished by hand); cap retains its original white Soutache that is uniquely, factory-applied by this maker. Two enameled ventilation grommets per side with correct, original finish. Typical red cotton lining with makers printed name logo, marked size 58 and the year 42; Integral sweatband of stiffly treated off-white cotton; Rare original white-soutached AFRIKA KORPS Cap as worn on by an Heer Anti-Aircraft crewman.
Background: Only two Heer FLAK Regiments wore these caps in AFRIKA, the 605 & 606th making this white soutached cap exceeding rare amongst other waffen-farbe branch colors of the DAK.
