Background: The cuff title was instituted on October 22, 1944. The awards were not presented until February 18, 1945, to the surviving officer cadets and staff of the Metz War School, with approximately 250 recipients; no doubt some more were manufactured but the “Metz 1944” cuff title is undoubtedly one of the last and rarest decorations of the Wehrmacht.
