BUY / RESERVE THIS ITEMDescription: Luftwaffe Engineer Corps with the rank of Ingenieur-Hauptman, elaborate, privately made tailors label in collar; blouse made of mid war quality blue grey colored ribbed trikot wool, blouse has open collar, four button front, four pleated patch pockets and turn back cuffs; it is lined in a blue colored rayon and has an internal breast pocket and a lower waist pocket, it is set up for wear with a dagger or sword; the officer quality buttons are pebbled silver, the collar is piped in twisted aluminum cord, the collar patches have hand embroidered propellers and wreaths in aluminum wires on a pink colored wool, the sewn-in shoulder boards are or of the equivalent Hauptmann rank; beautiful hand-embroidered bullion breast eagle; Officers aiguillette in-situ; there are loops for a ribbon bar and single badge; near mint overall.
Background: The different branches of service within the Luftwaffe were allocated specific, identifying, waffenfarbe, (Branch of Service Color), with pink being chosen for personnel serving with Ingenieurkorps der Luftwaffe, (Corps of Engineers of the Air-Force). The Corps of Engineers was a separate branch of service that was classed as an administrative service and personnel serving with the Engineering branch held the status of administrative officials with equivalent Officers ranks. The Corps of Engineers personnel’s collar tabs were a departure from the standard Luftwaffe collar tabs as they utilized distinctive two, three or four bladed rank “propellers”, as opposed to the rank “gulls”, utilized by the other branches of service.
