Uniform & Painted B4 Bag of Paratrooper Steven R. Jaros #16240739, 511th Parachute Infantry Rgt, 11th Airborne Division. Uniform jacket having ALL original Cross-Stitched Insignia to include rare silver & gold bullion hand embroidered Parachute wing on black wool background. Twill embroidered 511th PIR patch on left sleeve and 11th Abn Div patch on right with Corporals stripes and overseas bars on sleeves. June 1943 dated Quartermaster label remains in pocket; Occupation enhanced matching cloth button-belt at waist of jacket; jacket has J0739 in the collar area. B4 bag with working zippers is all Hand-Painted to include an 11th Abn Patch, Large Silver Jump Wings & scenes of Japan. Opposite side had his Unit designation at Camp Haugen (named for their CO -Col. Orin “Hard Rock” Haugen) Jaro’s Name, Serial number, Hometown and his Engineering company at Misawa Air Base ID -flanked by Pin-up Girls & Mount Fuji.Dragons painted on each end set off this great one-of-a-kind Paratrooper B4 Bag.
BACKGROUND: The 511th PIR saw action at the Battle of Leyte, Battle of Luzon(combat jump on Tagaytay Ridge, Manila) & Raid on Los Banos by the 1st Bn. to rescue American POWs.
