WW2 US Army 164th Inf. Rgt Uniform & Cap of Tech-5 Ervin Frecks #37145549; early 1940/41 dated uniform retaining all its original period insignia of a veteran of Guadalcanal to include 1st Marine Guadalcanal-snake patch on lower right sleeve, 23rd Infantry Div ‘AMERICAL’ shoulder patch, Tech-5 rank wool chevrons & overseas bars; matched set of 164th Inf Rgt DIs on both collar & overseas cap, matched US & Infantry collar discs; matched set 23rd Div DIs on shoulders, sterling Combat Infantry Badge, expert marksmen badge, ribbon bars to include Purple heart, Marine Unit Commendation and Pacific theater medal with 3 stars. Uniform is I’d with F-5549 in a couple of spots; uniform is in excellent condition overall with most wear inside the lining areas; Frecks like many from the 164th Inf Rgt. with valuable Jungle combat experience went on to later join the 5307th Composite Unit in Burma known as Merrill’s Marauders.
