Walther made P.38 Automatic Pistol, 0-Series with 0-prefix on serial numbers standing for experimetnal or test series; only 13,000 total made, this #06738 is in the middle of their serial number range (01-013000); adopted in 1938 to replace the P.08 Luger; this is one of the first 13,000 produced; all had commercial quality finish and distinctive WALTER Banner logo; all small parts on these first P.38 are double E/359 and came with matching numbered magazines; although correctly marked for this pistol its magazine is a mis-match; +98% original finish with just a hint of forward edge wear; excellent correct black checkered commercial style grips; most of these early guns never came back from North Africa & Russia; Near Mint appearing as unfired.
