Luftwaffe 1st Model Dagger, numbered by Malsch
Price: Sold
Description:The solid-nickel hilt mounts are all perfectly matched with their dark, uncleaned patina. At the crossguard, the brass-inset mobile-swastikas are perfect and the rounded pommels two larger ones are again beauties.
The carved wood grip is covered with blue Moroccan leather showing only minimal bruising. The leather is wrapped with the earlier style triple silver wire with the center being twisted and having a deep dark patina. The 12 inch blade is marked with the large oval DAVID MALSCH logo on one ricasso and serial numbered ‘280’ on the other above the thick brown leather buffer.
The blade is brightly plated and a real beauty having a perfect needle point and only a couple of age spots to one side.
The steel scabbard shell is straight with all its full grain blue Moroccan leather and moderate bruising. All three scabbard mounts are beautiful with dark uncleaned patina that matches the hilt mounts perfectly. The throat of the upper scabbard mount is stamped with the number “280” as the blade is. All three scabbard mounts are retained by two recessed side screws each.
The matching nickel chain-hanger assembly attached to the scabbard has 9 upper links and 14 lower links and are connected to a solid nickel spring-clip. A beautiful, uncleaned early 1st Model Dagger with matching numbers blade and scabbard.
