Reference: The Luftwaffe pattern national eagle was originally introduced for wear by Fliegerschaft personnel August 1934 and adopted for wear by the Luftwaffe March 1, 1935. The first pattern national eagle (droop tail) was utilized until a modified, second pattern eagle was introduced in late 1936 or early 1937. Generally the eagle for Officers ranks was hand embroidered while the eagle for EM/NCO’S ranks was machine embroidered but like this one, machine woven eagles were also utilized in limited quantities.
