Description: This US M1 Helmet Shell by ‘McCord’ is an excellent, early war time front-seam fixed bale type; no lot number visible. Original OD paint inside & out, remains at approximately 92%. Chinstrap & hardware are excellent, having 1942/43 type iron-alloy buckle.
3rd pattern M1 helmet Liner is the 1941 3rd pattern by ‘Hawley’; a cloth-covered, pressed-fiberboard liner shell. Its suspension is the 3rd & final pattern-type in khaki webbing w/early round tie; 3rd pattern neck-suspension band in khaki cotton having ‘un-folded-ends’ secured with the triangular-coated steel washers; 3rd pattern khaki cotton snap-in nape strap. This fiber liner in its 3rd configuration has snap studs for a removable/replaceable chinstrap of the type that will be used in the composite liners throughout the war. A great condition set dating from between late 42 & early 43; production of these fiber liners ended 11/42 and fixed bales in 1943.
